Many moons ago in Ibiza myself and Jem Haynes began making music together. After many hours of viewing and inspiration from a tv show named Treme we started our Second Line project. Here we have the second EP under that guise with a few tracks that have been dying to see the light of day for some while.
We’ve had some great support so far from Richy Ahmed, Marco Carola, DJ Caspa, Claude Von Stroke, Jepe, Danny Tenaglia, Audiojack, Droog, Jamie George, Nick Warren, Benoit C, Mouj, Andy Baxter, Marco Carola, Stacy Pullen, Danny Howells, Sinbad, Gorgon City, Kele Okereke, Demi amongst many others.
You can get your mits on it via the below.
With our Second Line EP right around the corner to be released I’ve compiled the June installment for the Colour Series monthly shows. Alot of brand new music with the odd older personal favourite. Music from The White Man & the Arab, Joris Voorn, Jimpster, Eekkoo & Flowers and Sea Creatures, Max D, Second Line, Asadinho, Matthew Herbert, Caribou, Lory D, Pepe Braddock, Ripperton and Tom Trago.
Over the last few summers myself and Jem Haynes have been making music under our Second Line guise. Last year saw the debut release which is available here.
Today is one of our new tracks featured on the new Colour Series sampler alongside a whole host of talent who will be releasing music on the label. The track is called Fly Back and is now available on BEATPORT and JUNODOWNLOAD. Go listen, go buy it and play it very loud.
At the beginning of Summer 2011, Jem Haynes moved to the flat directly above me. This was soon the beginning of regular coffee’s and music making sessions. After getting involved in a series called Treme, our Second Line guise was born as we sought inspiration in a lot of the songs, drums and rhythms from the music in the series for an EP.
Over a year and a half has gone by and in that time has seen these tracks tested around the globe, including We Love at Ministry of sound and Space in Ibiza where they have worked to full effect on a weekly basis. This debut EP is also the first release on Jem Haynes new Colour Series label. More music is in the pipeline currently from ourselves, Jem and Mike Peters. Check the Colour Series soundcloud for more
Positive feedback so far has come from Jozif, Orde Meikle, Gabriel Ananda, Nic Fanciulli, Luciano, Pete Tong, Sasha, C. Von Stroke, Bookashade, Chris Fortier, Anderson Noise, Dibby Dougherty, Benji Candelario, Lee curtis, Sander Kleinenberg, Rich Hawtin, Stephan Bodzin, ATFC, Tom Thorpe and Andrew Grant.
Here’s clips from two tracks on the EP. Click on the beatport link above for all of them.

Here’s a video I found also that someone posted of me playing Big Chief at for We Love at Green Valley in Brazil.
Well, throughout the last few years Ive been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how to make tunes, and how to make them sound great. Slowly but surely I think im improving, and with the help of a few collaborations was able to give the good folks at We Love a mix of tracks Ive/We’ve been doing over the last year.
