About

After being introduced to house music in his mid teens, Ian finally managed to save up enough money at university and purchase his first set of decks early in 2002. After playing at a few house parties Ian was invited to play a gig at Jimmy Allans in Durham, which he then held a weekly residency till early 2003 when the bar changed ownership. The residency was continued around the corner at Saints, now known as Warehouse. With more exposure to club nights in the region and various other influences, Ian’s taste of music began expanding, encompassing many different sounds including house music, disco, broken beat, Detroit techno and soul to name but a few.

Around January 2004, Ian decided to share his passion and knowledge of music world wide by setting up his own website, which has now had over 10,000 hits and has received praise and attention from viewers from all corners of the globe. www.ianblevins.co.uk

It was early in the 2004 that a delicately crafted, long anticipated, well thought out, exclusive, knocked up cassette earned Ian a runner up place in the IDJ magazine reader’s mixes awards. A strong competition where many budding young DJs send there mix tapes each month.

In March 2004, disillusioned with the lack of quality nights in the area, Ian alongside two of his friends decided to start a club night in Middlesbrough called the Ghetto. At first this was held on monthly Sundays at a small but chic bar. In the first few months the night quickly out grew its venue and moved to the Purple Onion, a dark basement with low ceilings and the perfect intimate venue for the night. Since then the club night has produced some of the most memorable parties the North East has seen with guest DJs including DJ Camacho, QuentinHarris’s (UK debut), DJSpen, Karizma, King Britt, DJ Spinna, FrankieFeliciano, KingBritt, TheoParrish (joint party with Solid ground), Ron Trent, Moodymann, Maurice Fulton, Benji B and a massive one off event with Body and Soul Legends, JoeClaussell and DannyKrivit.

The Ghetto has also hosted pre parties for Solid Ground @ Hush who guests have included LouieVega, FrankieKnuckles, KennyDope, TimmyRegisford and David Morales.

Within this time Ian has played a host gigs including the backroom at Erik Morillo’s Subliminal Sessions with ‘Sugarshack’ @ The Empire, a 6 hour set for ‘Spirit’ in Liverpool and played ‘to the Manor Born’sEaster Ball on the same bill as DJ Spen, Sandy Rivera and the Unabomber’s.

In 2006 Ian spent the summer working for Mn2s Records and Azuli Records out in Ibiza. Whilst doing this he had the opportunity to play regular gigs at locations such as the infamous Bora Bora Beach club, Savannahs main terrace and Funky Rooms, playing alongside people like Jo Mills, and playing many times on HolidayFMs ‘El Divino’ hour for Azuli. All this as well as spinning at Coastline and Bling Bling in Ibiza Town.

07 started promising again with a return to a few Ghetto parties alongside Fatdog Record s which saw Maurice Fulton, Benji B and Marcus Worgell grace the decks at a series of outdoor parties.

A return to Ibiza in 07 saw Ian hold a weekly residency at one of the worlds most famous nightclubs, Space for Azuli Records each friday holding down the backroom, often playing the full night and a wide range of ecletctic electric records. As well as this Ian worked for We Love...Sundays which hold there 22 hour party marathons every sunday at Space. This tremendous season was topped off by playing on the Premier Etage for We Love's .. Closing party.

On return to the UK Ian has already played gigs in Manchester and one of Londons most popular clubs, The Cross for a packed Azuli Ibiza re union. With this years experience and production material hot on the arizon we hope to see alot more of Ian.

With Summer 2008 approaching Ian has already been confirmed 4 dates for We Love Sundays at Space. Hopefully more gigs will follow, and further production work continued.
